Off to a Good Start is a coalition that offers specific policy recommendations to improve Iowa ’s child health services across six goal areas. Young children’s health care critically impacts their healthy growth, educational, and social success. Children need a health care system that ensures they receive regular, preventive, and comprehensive evidence-based health services.

This year’s conference expands on the previous five years of work with a focus on health equity and life course health development. It will offer recommendations for shaping the Iowa child health system with an emphasis on the whole child, social determinants approach. These policies are needed to ensure young children’s health, reduce health disparities, and achieve long-term cost savings and health benefits.
